Celebrate John Lewis' 150th birthday with a Lucienne Day print

Lucienne Day 1954 print shell top, £49.99, available HERE.

After the Ines de la Fressage at Uniqlo debacle, I started this post on John Lewis' 150th birthday collection, noticed that the lovely Lucienne Day print range was selling out fast, and gave up. But I've just had another look online and can confirm that this gorgeous shell top is still available. Though it is a limited collection and, according to my source, isn't going to be repeated. Textile designer Lucienne Day and her husband Robin acted as design consultants for John Lewis between 1962-1987, but this beautiful top feels just right for now. Perfect with white jeans - it could be the new grown-up t-shirt for summer.

I love the story of the company's profit-sharing policy - devised by John Spedan Lewis (son of the original John Lewis and Eliza Baker), while recovering from a riding accident in 1918. Spedan Lewis came up with the idea of sharing company profits with employees as ' the natural alternative to anarchy.'

Other birthday celebrations at John Lewis include the opening of a roof terrace for summer - it was a bit wet and windy when I visited last week but you get a marvellous, never-seen-before view of Oxford Street.

I'd be happy to throw one of those on with jeans and like you I love the profit sharing story, it makes for dedicated workers who want their company to succeed, I'm surprised more haven't done it xx

Love the length and short sleeves, and the print, on these tops. And you're right they would look so great with white jeans!

A grown up tee, I love it. And the profit-sharing story makes me like it even more. xo

I'll take the aqua version! The grey is a bit too high-contrast for me, but with white jeans, that blue and white would be perfect!

Bought the grey top. Thank you. I'm glad they ship to the USA. Some companies in England don't.
